There are some musky lakes around here. I have caught musky on Lake Wappo in Amery. The Apple River is also a good spot for musky fishing. I believe there are musky in Big Moon Lake south of TL as well.

Plenty of muskie water in the area. Closest is Big Moon, (well, technically Lower Turtle is a muskie water, but there's only a handful of migrants and not worth your time). Big Moon has fairly low numbers, but it is a small lake that is pretty easy to fish. Dark water though so it will be tough to see a follow. Apple River Flowage is always a good option if you like working heavy weeds. Plenty of fish in there, but it can be daunting as everywhere is weedy and there isn't much to distinguish any given weedline from the other 90% of the flowage. Wapogasset is a bit further out, and really is a developing fishery, though plenty to catch in there. Lot's of traditional structure there. Other options are Bone and Deer a bit further out: both have good numbers and on both there is plenty of traditional structure to hammer. There is also Rice, which is pretty weedy and has low numbers, but excellent size. Sand and Little Sand are two other small lakes that have fish. Sand being very clear and full of milfoil (somewhat like Deer, but they have different milfoils), so daylight is not the best time to fish the bigger of the Sands.
