Honda Help

Recommended Posts

Just took out my Honda foreman with manaul foot shifter to pull out a dock from the high waters. The last gear it was in was reverse when I shut it down. Jumped on it and hit the starter button and won't you know it, it started right up...but was very rough running. Tried starting it in neutral and ran great. Put in the 3rd and once again it started but very rough.

It NEVER started in gear before nor do I believe it should be. What would cause this? There was a small stick jamed up under the atv (like very tinny). May that have hit some senor or knocked it loose? "IS" there a sensor that controls this?

Any help. (2009 Honda Foreman 500FM)

Thanks,

There is a safety mechanism that wont let the motor rev up until you release the brake lever after starting it. If it does it again try pushing the brake lever out to make sure it is fully released. If it still does it check to see if your brake lights are staying on or not.

I believe it uses the brake light switch to activate and cancel the starting in gear system.

UPDATE:

Right on...the right brank lever wasen't fully springing back causing it to start in all gears.

Thanks
