Todd S.
Scenarios:1. New/Used boat at dealer, no sales tax collected-have them write seperate invoices for boat motor and trailer. You will pay MN tax on boat and trailer.2 New/Used boat at dealer, sales tax collected-again have them write seperate invoices showing % and total $ of taxes collected, will pay the difference here in MN for boat and trailer.3. Used boat at "private" party, again seperate bill of sales for boat, motor, and trailer, sales tax paid on trailer only!Atleast this is how was just explained to me by my local registerer, I bought a new boat at a dealer in WI last week, paid WI sales tax (5%), then had them write up 3 seperate reciepts, I paid the difference of 1.5% on the boat and trailer.
