2 pole 15A breaker question

Jenz, first off, i would have used a disconnect at the pole so i don't have to run all the way to the main panel to dc the power for the outlets. To answer your question first, coming onto a fishing board site for this type of info might be a bit much in asking. That is my opinion. While you may see these types of questions come up from time to time, many times it is dealing with low voltage lighting on a truck or trailer. The way i look at your question is like this, If you have never changed the brakes on a car before but you saw it done once and have a crescent wrench and pliers, you think you can do it. Well sir, if you asked me for help, i would never give you the help as i would not you coming back on me via a lawsuit for laying it out for you. You may say that would never happen but it is easier for us union and non union folks just not to give the info you are seeking. If your job was done i would really hope that you are the first one to try it, not your wife or kid plugging in a radio or something.

The slam about the union trades does not set well with me as i imagine it won't with others. Why not join the ibew union board for help rather than a bunch of outdoorsman?

Slam about unions What a immagination! where did you read into that?? Last post here BYE

I did think some sparkie would give me the correct wireing,I know the union guys like to help their brothers nothing wrong with that.

This has nothing to do with unions. I am an electrical designer and could have offered legal and accurate information but chose not to do so for the following reason.

Part of it too is that people are asking for advice on things that are way beyond their skills,

Based on the questions you were asking and how you were asking them threw up red flags regarding your level of experience and the LAST thing any of us want to do is give you information about something you don't fully understand and then you do it incorrectly and something happens to you or a loved one.

There are a lot of people I know (friends and family members) that think they have it all figured out. They honestly believe they have the skill and/or the knowledge but I would never even consider helping them short of doing it myself, which would be illegal because I am not properly licensed to do it for them.

The electrical codes are a living entity that are updated and changed every three years so even if you did some similar work a couple years ago, you may not be knowledgeable enough to do it right today.

It's not about protecting jobs, it's about protecting your rear and your family.

Well said Bob. I for one do not like to "ignore" someone asking for help, it is not my style but at the same time I also do not want to tell people how to do my job. A doctor, lawyer and financial planners do not tell people how to do their job either. I will gladly offer advice on if it can be done or not and what the code requirements are but will not get into the nuts and bolts of doing it for a couple of reasons.

First off, how am I supposed to know that the job will be done by the homeowner on the homeowners property and not the neighbor, parents or kids house? The last three cannot be worked on by an unlicensed person.

Second, electricity is dangerouse and if done wrong very bad things can happen (sometimes right now and sometimes much later) and how do you think I would feel if someone got hurt doing something that they were not 100% sure of how things are supposed to be done

Third, once someone chimes in with an illegal shortcut on how to do something the thread then becomes useless. I could edit out the poor advice but I chose not to be the censor guy and let things play out as they do.

So, if you want advice on how many receptacles you need on your kitchen island or if the receptacle in the soffit needs to be GFCI protected, ask away, but if you are looking for a step by step on how to replace the panel in your neighbors cousins sisters father-in-laws cabin you won't hear much from me other than to hire it out or buy the book.
