Painting a Topper

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I'm in the market for a used topper, which means that finding the right color in the yr. range, bed length, etc. is not easy. Are fiberglass toppers gelcoat, or are they painted? Anyone ever repaint a topper to match the truck color? Any idea about what it would run to have one painted?

Fiberglass toppers are usually painted to match when new and can easily be repainted to match a different truck. I have painted quite a few of them, and it usually runs $250- $300.

That's what I was afraid of. Brings the cost up close to that of a new one. Suppose I could do it myself. I'm not completley in useless with a HPLV gun.

thanks

You could do it yourself. Worst thing that could happen is you have to sand a mistake off.
