Why does the bass season open early north east of hwy 53? I guess they spawn sooner up there

because the DNR are pure genius. They are truly the epitome of decision making for the rest of the outdoors world. Open walleye early, a fish that most people eat when they catch legal fish. But lets make the guys who release most of their catch wait two extra weeks, which most years a lot of lakes in the metro still have spawners. Pure brilliance.

The best part is. The ones that decide on season opener dates are probably not even outdoorsman/outdoorswomen. I mean why in the heck did and early opener ballot have to go through the house and congress. Why cant the DNR just say. Fish are done spawning. Go fish. Or better yet. Don't close the season and make it C&R during spawning months. I would gladly C&R every bass until the end of time.
