Nathansdad
The soil in my yard is very sandy. I'd like to plant a couple nice maple trees but am unsure if they will take. Any thoughts? If not what would be a good option? I'd prefer to stay away from pines as I have enough of those already.
Dave
I'm not a tree guy but, here in Andover is very sandy soil. Before sodding 20 years ago, 6 inches of black dirt was spread. And, my maple trees are doing fine.
pike79
nathansdad, where I live it is sandy soil I have had good luck with planting maple trees. The silver and red maples have done good, but I tried to transplant sugar maples from the woods and could not get any to grow, don't know if I didn't dig enough of the root or if they perfer better soil.
