JLE
I tried something new and had good success, I used some heavier flies in a leach pattern for northerns and it worked great, the first fish was the largest I caught in the last 2 years. The only problem is that it is lite and a 25 foot cast is good. Any suggestions on heavier similiar lures, I really like the action of the rabbitt fur. Rino
Fly fishing for pike is great! What line/rod combo are you using? I use a 9 wt set and it can cast the large light flys no problem. Also if your tippet is not stiff enough you will have problems getting a big light fly to turnover. I love fishing big streamers and agree that it's a great way to select some of the bigger fish. JLE
I was using a spinning real so I just made the fly a little heavier. I have done some fly fishing but don't have the gear for this size. I put an additional dumbell weight which helped a little but I am affraid of adding too much weight and changing the action... any sugestions in increasing the weight of the fly and not loosing that natural action?
