I would like to try going out and hunt for some agates. Just wondering if anyone has any suggestionswhere i could start my hunt in the woodbury/cottage grove area. Thanks for any help.

I would start in your own backyard. Do you, or any of your neighbors have decorative landscape rock? Search the separated river rock and you WIll find some agates. otherwise look for natural areas where rocks are exposed such as river banks,farm fields, drainage ditches, but yeah landscape rocks tend to not be moved too far from their source and Cottage grove is Agate central So point your eyes down!

Any gravel road in Wash. Co. has them too. Farmers fields & gravel pits both with permission are great places. Anywhere there are rocks basically.

Thanks for the tips , will post some pics if/when i find some. Can never find any bigger than a quarter though. maybe this will be the year of the big one.
