Boaters Exam

Recommended Posts

You can see the actal requirment online. Check the ministry of transportation HSOforum for details where this is required. A cert from your home state satisfies the requirement if you need. It. MN DNR has an online cert. I did it last year and recommend everyone who operates a boat take the exam. It has a lot of good information. I can't believe how many people don't know simple navigation rules.

It applies to all of Ontario. The rule applies if the boat (not the driver) is left in Ontario for a specific amount of time. If you are going for a weekend, don't worry. I still believe the MN DNR online class and the card is a good idea for everyone that operates a boat.

Yes, like Magnum Mike said its only if you have your boat in Onmtario waters for a certain amount of days per year...something like 40 or more.

I am not positive, but I think if you rent a boat in Ontario waters - like at a resort - you may need one though?

If have your boat in Ontario for more than 44 consecutive days you need a boaters card...can be from the USA or Canada. If you rent a boat at a resort we do a safety checklist with you and that will be all you need.
