Buddy vs. Big Buddy

I have a both a Big Buddy(4k/9k/18k) and a Buddy X(4k/9k, folding handle), and frankly I like the Buddy X better the more I use it. I also have an Otter Cabin, in which I put in a reflectix cap and back, and I use the Buddy now and leave the Big Buddy at home. It heats up my house quite well, and is very compact for travel between setups. I haven't been out in any crazy cold, though, but if I did I would take the Big Buddy just in case.

If you were in a "20 below on L.O.W." scenario you can always pull out the sunflower, but CRACK THOSE VENTS!!! I got the dreaded CO headache and almost passed out once from a sunflower in my garage, and since then I am very leary about using them in enclosed areas now. I used to use it in a fishhouse too, and hated the noise, that it could burn things up on all sides, and the fact that I had to have a big draft for ventilation.

I used a sunflower for over 10 years and made the switch to a big buddy last year. I am very glad I made the move. No more feeling sick and the noise factor is a huge plus.

I got a big buddy halfway thru this last season when my sunflower had an accident and I snapped the knob off of it. I debated on whether or not to go with the buddy or the big buddy. For the $20 difference I paid I'm glad I got the big one.

I don't know and can't speak for him, but it looks like a modified guard to me. If anyone feels like taking an axe to their big buddy out of frustration, please pull that guard off and give it to me first!

this is what i use on my big buddy. its used for paint rollers and you have to bend it into shape you need to fit the heater and i secured mine with wire. for some reason on the other post the right address doesn't come up always changes ice shanty to ice leaders
