Camping in Grand Mesa in August

How are the temps around that time? What is the fishing like? Any good camp grounds in the area that someone can suggest? We are going out there for a week. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks!

The weather will be great, cool nites, pleasant days, no humidity and no mosquitoes. You may have a few late day t-storms tho. No specific campground info but there are plenty there. Some small resorts also. A number of good trout lakes are on top. It is real scenic with lots of hiking trails, etc.

The area is great for a couple of day trips, go to the Colorado National Monument south of Fruita, spectacular sightseeing. South of the Mesa are Telluride and Ouray, big mountains and the towns are made for tourists. A bit farther is Moab Utah, if you go take Utah 128 along the Colorado River. Lots of movies filmed around there, Thelma and Louise comes to mind. Also, great fruit and wines to be had at Palisade Colorado and the best peaches in the US should be ripe at that time.

i moved here from about an hour & a half east of there, Rye/colorado city! the temps should be perfect that time of year. Bring jackets just in case, but the days should be great. If your in grand mesa you will be surrounded by some good lakes for trout. Also if you take about an hour drive east towards colorado springs to eleven mile rasevior you can get into some of the best northern pike fishing there is. Cast baits that replicate rainbow trout. The pike grow huge in there!
