AWH
Are you sure that Big Marine has them? It's been 7 years since I've lived in the Cities, but I don't remember that one as being one that was ever stocked with muskies. Other than that, Island and Long Lakes in Ramsey County...there are two Eagle Lakes (Hennepin & Carver) and two Cedar Lakes (Hennepin & Scott) with muskies, as well as a Round Lake (Hennepin?) and Stone Lake.AWH[This message has been edited by AWH (edited 03-01-2004).][This message has been edited by AWH (edited 03-01-2004).]
AWH
As far as which lakes are best? It really depends on what you're looking for. Big fish? Numbers? Just looking to catch one of any size? Tiger? Pure strain? If you're just getting started in muskies or if you're an experienced musky addict...this will also dictate which lakes you might want to try.I would suggest to look at some stocking reports. Not all of the lakes mentioned are still managed for muskies. But for any of the lakes that still receive regular stocking, your chances of encountering muskies on these waters are probably pretty decent. The smaller lakes are generally easier to figure out a pattern on, as it's easier to eliminate water on these lakes and key in on the higher percentage locations.AWH
Fish-n-Freak
AWH is right.Different lakes for different results. Do you have a boat? or fishing from shore? Looking for #'s or PIG's? Any good at fishing the SLOP?My best bet for #'s would be some of the smaller lakes, easier to cover the water and find the active fish. Gervais, Cedar, Eagle and Clear lakes are all smaller and easy to learn.Looking for a chance to break the 50" mark, you never know where you will find them, but I have seen or caught them here; Minnetonka, Forest, White Bear and Independence.Bald Eagle, Rush and Sugar all have good #'s and can provide a shot at something to brag about also.Good Luck! Hope this helped.Steve
