Humminbird 360

Was at the NW Sports show yesterday and saw this. All I can say is wow, both at the technology, AND the price ($2k list). 1198, 360 add on and tax and you're looking at a $5k package, which is steep, but very cool stuff. Wish I could justify that kind of a spend.

I forgot to as the guys at the booth, but anyone know if/when it's going to be out and any staffers get a chance to play with this yet?

You could hire a team of scuba divers for several seasons and spend less money. Or you could hang your fishing buddy over the edge of the boat by his ankles with a snorkel in his mouth. I like the latter idea. Would make a funny cartoon.

I think I will have one by next spring. I think the technology available is great, but don't forget with the technology comes the responsibility to respect the resourse.

As for the divers, I don't think a team of divers will be able to cover the number of lakes I do for same money.

The scheduled release date is Oct 1, but rumor has that it has been pushed back to the 15th. The thought is to get it into the hands of the new owners before winter.

I have talked to a couple of R&D guys and they all say it's better than what you think it will be.

I think the technology is great but it comes at a pretty steep price. Even if you just get a 798 that still runs about a grand give or take, then another 2 grand for the 360. I can think of a few other things I could spend 3 grand on IMO, not to mention the wife would put MY head on the wall if I came home with one.

It would be cool to use one for a day just to see what its like but like I said I couldnt justify that kind of dough.
