THAT's it !

This year will be my third weekend trip to a great Muskie lake in Hackensack ,MN .
We have a great time but I have yet to hook into one.

I think my next cast will be my 1,001st . If I never catch one I will still be out there trying . Last year I got to play the figure 8 game with one for about ten minutes it was awesome ! I am hooked.

The trip is mid October and so it is usually pretty cold and windy .
Does anyone have any advise on what I should be throwing and where I can go to learn the proper way to fish the lure of choice .

The guys I fish with have done pretty well with about a #8 fire tiger "Cisco" .
I bought one and fished the hell out of it no luck yet . Maybe I shouldn't be using a bobber with this lure. (JUST KIDDING).

Help me out here !

I've always done well throwing wood at that time of year. Natural colors, like a perch or sucker finish are good. Try a big suick or a reef hog. Also,in case of a follow that won't hit, have a big bass jig w/plastic for a back up.Make the j&p red.Hope this help's.

I will see if I can find a reef runner. Can't have too much tackle !

When you say go to the backup bass lure do you have a second Muskie rod ready to go or do you switch baits on the rod you had the follow on ?

Have another rod ready to go.Throw it right after the Reef Hog or whatever.Be sure to use a leader with the jig. Best trailer for the jig that i've found is a big,(6inch) craw worm. I use Gene Larew salt craw's,but any will do. GOOD LUCK!!!
