Neultin Lake

So last year had a trip planned to Neultin in July. Around the first of June we all get emails saying the lake is down 5' and they can't land the planes. Long store short the fishing season was cancelled and then we hear that they cancelled the hunting seasons in the fall. I have looked all over the internet and can't seem to find any news reports or any mention of this having happened. Is there any snow in northern Manatoba? What are the chances of a 125 mile long and 50 mile wide lake making up 5' of missing water in one winter and spring. Not good with the winter we have had down in the twin cities. Anyone with any info on this please pass it along. Looking at this coming summer and not knowing if our trip is on or not is making other planning very hard, the wife is after me to "figure this fishing business out".

Have you tried contacting the lodge owners to see what is planned for 2012? They took a big kick in gluteus maximus last year. All their water based infrastructure was high and dry which made operating the lodge not viable. Takes some kind of serious event to make a lodge giant like Nueltin completely shut down their operations.

I agree it was a bad deal for them and for the guests. I really like the people that run the operations and am hoping for the best. I guess you fish/you don't fish doesn't really matter as long as people are not struggling because of something totally out of there control. That said the story remains the same from the lodge. Wait tell spring. I guess I will get an update at the northwest sports show in a couple of weeks.
