Looking into alumacraft boats, input appreciated!

Well I finally saved enough money to buy a newer boat. I currently have a 1236 jon boat with a 15hp johnson. My buddy has a 2003 v-14 Alumacraft tiller model for sale. I think it's 70-73 inches wide and takes a long shaft. His price was $2k without a motor. Question is, is this a good deal without a motor? Was thinking I can sell the jon boat package then get a tiller motor as well. I don't go to big bodies of water and only fish local lakes like centerville and Johanna. Any input appreciated.

2K without a motor? From a friend, that is pricey. My opinion, not a good deal. I bought my first boat & trailer without a motor for $200 then later found out that a good working, used motor 50hp+, cables, setup, etc.. will cost me about $2500+. I sold the boat.

You can find many boats on a list of websites for around that price and you'll get a motor, trailer and boat.

Ain't much of a "Buddy" if he's asking 2k for a 9 yr old, 14 ft tiller boat w/o motor. Hopefully it at least comes with a trailer. Look around on various sites or google used boats for sale. That will give you more than enough sites.
