Tofte MN parking/trail question

Thinking of snowmobiling from Tofte up to the Gunflint trail later this week. I'm wondering about a specific parking spot along the north shore state trail where it crosses the sawbill trail just outside Tofte. Anyone give me a report specific to that parking spot as to whether I can park there and have rideable snow up towards Devil's Track/Grand Marais? Using this as a meeting place for another group in our party so we need to have it planned out pretty well ahead of time.

Thanks,

ccarlson

I was at Hungry Jack Lodge about 1/2 way up the gunflint this weekend. The trails were rideable but got pretty beat up over the weekend. There were plenty of sleds around all week. I was there primarily to fish but I did get out a little. I put on 100 miles or so. I'm not sure how the trails are close to the lake but I'm guessing not good. Very little snow along 61 the whole way back yesterday. There was no snow in Grand Marais. That changes once you get up over the hill on the gunflint. That might have changed overnight as I did see they got some snow too. There are parking lots at Devils Track and a few along the way up the gunflint as well. I would recommend going up the gunflint a little ways and riding to the end of the trail and back. Here is a link for a map of the area trails. cook county sled map I would start at the Blueberry Road lot.
