Snaring

Recommended Posts

I am thinking of trying to do some snaring of Coyote. I have never snared before and am looking for a little info.

If I have read correctly, it is good to set them along fencelines and the like where they cross under it. Just wondering if anyone creates brush piles to funnel them into the snare?

Also, I am wondering if anyone feels that there is a minimum number of snares needed to be successful?

Should I get the snares with the deer stop on them or the locking snares?

I am just looking for any info on snaring like any tips or tricks to make it easier or more successful. Any info is greatly appreciated.

without deer stops if you want dead yotes when you get to them. any tight funnels on heavily traveled yote trails will work. man made obstructions shy them away in most cases. have the most luck with more snares. the more snares you have, the better chance you have of catching something =P...tight drainage ditches are killer, gaps in barbwire fences work well, and tight cattail trails are good.

good luck

Where can I buy snares in the ne metro? Gander has conibears and leg holds, but no snares. My traps are just catching coons and possums. The yote are actually getting to the bait by tipping over the buckets and will not stick their heads in.
