1Yogi
I own a late 70's Diawa Millionaire.I inherited it from my Dad. Is this a good Muskie reel to start out? If so what kind of rod should I get for it? If not is there a combination of rod and reel that won't dip into my kids college money?
Guest
1Yogi, take a look at the Muskie/Pike rods I have on my site. You can't possibly go wrong getting one of these rods for the warranty and customer service you will get.------------------Jim Reedwww.countrykatfishing.com
David Swenson
1Yogi,I owned a 70's Diawa Millionaire in the 70's and it lasted about 2 weekends of muskie fishing. Your best bet for starting out is to buy a ABU Garcia 6500 C3 and a moderately priced rod (Fenwick HMXod, Berkley Lighting Rod, or a Cabela's Fish Eagle II muskie rod). The reel runs about $70.00 and the rods cost about $60.00 to $100.00 depending on which one you get. RuKiddingMe
Galyan's has a deal going on right now where if you buy an Abu Garcia 6500 C3 you get a free rod with it, not sure of the rod quality but it is an IM7 rod, like a 50 dollar value, and it's only 59.99 for the reel, not a bad deal if you are just starting out.Good LuckMatt
guideman
I have to agree with Dave on this one, use the Diawa for pike or bass fishing. The Abu 6500c3 is a durable well builtreel, I have been using them for years.------------------Terry "Ace" SjobergAce guide service.aceguideservice.com218-753-2612[email protected]
