Brake light trouble with trailer

2004, 6.0 4x4 Chevy 2500.

When checking trailer lights, all work EXCEPT driver side brake.

When testing wires from truck no power in 7-way, for brakes left side.

Found which wire is brake, left side and no power fed from truck.

Someone told me there was some kind of rely under the hood that can go bad for sending brake lights to plug.

Same person told me easy fix, just splice left brake light wire (truck brake light) to that 7-way.

I would like to fix it the right way.

Any ideas for that relay?

I did some digging on the net. Seems its the turn/flasher relay. Under the dash. Here is a link if anyone else has this issue.

Its called a turn signal/lighting control module.

They are readily available at your local NAPA or dealer. They run between $50 and $100 depending on whether or not you have LED lighting.

They are a known common failure.
