Trout ice fishing at night

today's the first day in mn for ice fishing trout and i want to go at night and i wanted to know some good techniques for catching more fish at dark,

was out on a lake in the metro today for some trout. Some of the guys in my crew has some bites. I didnt get any. We all left around sundown so the lake we were on must not have been a night bite

I had the same question last year. Trout at night is not a good bet.

take a can of corn with ya..put some on the hook and some down the hole=trout

over the years i have read some books on trout, including the brown trout. one consistent messege [that i should follow more] is to fish late afternoon and into the evening for browns. one method i saw [for big browns] was to use a floating mouse type lure and bring it in slowly in the rivers pools.

i plan this year to stay into the dark this year on a lake i fish for trout that has browns in it. i have cought browns up to 5 pounds there, and my brother got a 8 pounder out of there, but they were taken in the daytime. just never gave it a shot at night. i will try this winter and certainly will troll the lake next open water season at night as well. i will use larger stick baits, one on a portable downriger and one near the surface. good luck.
