Satellite hookup for wheelhouse

Ive got directv and Im going to finally try to get it hooked up to my fish house up north this weekend. I picked up a spare dish and portable stand for it but I want to make sure Im not missing anything for the setup. Is there anything more to it than running coaxial cable from the dish to the reciever and then from the receiver to the tv? I also have a satellite signal finder, does that connect to the coaxial coming out from the receiver or inline from the dish to the receiever? Thanks for any help!

I have just an old single lnb satellite attached to the house, and keep a wrench to adjust as necessary. I run one coax from the satellite to receiver, then rca jacks to the TV. I use an old, non HD receiver. Works great.

I don't have a signal strenth device, I just simply use the compass to point it due south, use the signal meter on the receiver, and have someone in the house yell when I get 80% or more, then tighten the bolts.

I used to run DTV in my wheeled house back 10-12 years ago. Never used a signal finder and never had any luck putting in zip to figure the direction.

Here's what I did,

Cranked up the volume opened the window and adjusted the dish until it beeped in 80-98% range.

I ran a $500 Northstar generator and on a full tank of gas could watch sat for 24+ hours. When it would idle up or down didn't effect the system at all. One time though the screen got messed up and I cracked the window to hear a gurgling noise. Went out to the genny to find it half under the ice! Warm spell and some 20+ hours later it melted in a bit! The muffler was at the water level. Put in on solid ice and went back inside to watch tv.

Back in them days all you had to do was call and say you were going to put a receiver in a camper or cabin it was $5 a month more for only the months you use it. Now I've heard they want you to call every time you use it so they turn off your land line based system! In other words if you want one in your fish house and at home it's going to be two services or one at a time. I've got a couple spare rooms with hook up so calling would not be needed.

Also,

If you have a recorder box you can take that with you and watch the recorded shows without a dish.
