Weight of a released fish

Mr. B

Recommended Posts

I am curious of the weight of a fish that I released on Saturday on Leech. We released a fat 52 inch fish. The girth I did not measure but I do know it was all of 24 inches and then some. (see Saturday Musky on leech lake page) I have never caught a fish this large and I am trying to get a number of different ideas of the weight so I can have an approximate weight on a plaque under the replica I am having made.

Any approximate weights would be great.

Thanks

I don't remember where I got this formula, but it is fairly accurate.

For Muskies and Northens: Length X Length X Length divided by 3500 = approximate weight, so a 52" fish is about 40.2 pounds.

Walleyes is L X L X L / 2700 = approx. weight.

Nice fish!

Muskie Inc. uses the following formula

Lenth x girth x girth divided by 800 =37.44
