Mantrap lake, Hubbard co.

I will be going to Mantrap lake next week to fish for muskies. Just wondering if anyone has any advise on spots, lures, ect. Never fished it before so any info would be appreciated.

I will also be up there on the 11th thru the 13th. I am going with some people from work, we are planning on camping out in the state forest. I will be in a 16' alumacraft with a 50 hrs evinrude my buddy will have his lund pro angler with a 125 merc on it. If you see us stop by and have one. See ya up there.

Fished Mantrap on the 22nd, surface water temp was 70-71 degrees. It was a real bizarre day, the weather and wind direction was changing every hour. Only saw two fish, both on a 6" Phantom. I threw on a Thunderhead topwater lure and nailed a fat 48 incher, very exciting strike....

Was back out on Sunday the 30th, VERY HOT, VERY SUNNY - nice wind out of the south/south west helped out quite a bit. Surface temps were 80-81 degrees, moved 5 or 6 fish, All on swing baits, Phantoms and Manta's.... None were too interested in eating.

There is a ton of nice cabbage beds on Mantrap this year, lots of cover and lots of forage.

I have been fishing Mantrap for a few years now and it is definitely one of my favorite lakes, not known for huge fish, but it has excellent numbers.....

Are you still planning on going up to big Mantrap on the 11th? I will be up their the that week. Have you thought of any good spots to fish? I will be looking for you and I just might have to stop by for a drink. I can show you some good spots. I will be in a Lund ProV with a 150hp mercury on it. Hope to see you up there.
