I had all Ticas and still use a few but have since started using the Shimano Siena in the 500 and 750 sizes. very good drags and they dont freeze up in the cold. Matt from Thorne Brothers turned me on to them.

I have all my ice rods rigged up with the Cetus sb500's, nice little reels that can take some abuse. I use a couple of them for my cat rigs so that alone should say something about them

I've had good luck with the LF500. The main nut came off my centerpin and I locked up that reel one time, but after turning off antireverse, backing it off, and taking it apart the problem was obvious. If you own any Ticas and see any wobble in the spool, this might be your problem.

As for ice reels, I have a bunch of Gander cheapies, not sure who they contracted for their line, but they were really nice reels for the money, 9 ball bearing, instant anti-reverse, nice handles and smooth drag.

I also own one Okuma Hardstone and a few Pflueger Presidentials. Looks like I'm have to check out the Shimano Sienna if I add another combo to the embarrassment of riches that is my ice fishing collection. I seriously need to start selling some of my combos when even I can admit I have too many (24 or 25 now!)
