so im fishing in about 10 to 15 feet of water at about 4pm to 6pm and then the bite stops and the crappie bite super hard. so i had a question does the crappie go deeper or shallow. and do jigs that glow a green color help on catching crappie. i dont have a Vexilar or any electronics so just wonder what would be better.

I spent a couple years ice fishing before I purchased my first flasher. Mostly for crappies in water no deeper than 12'. My strategy usually was to leave one line about a 1' or so off the bottom and the other line up about 3-4' off the bottom. If i got a couple fish on the one 4' off the bottom id move the other line up etc...

Also i would say yes glow jigs are good at night

Crappies like to roam around. My advice is to keep moving and drill holes. My plan of attack would be since I've been getting fish in a certain spot at a certain time I'd try search around that area before the hot bite time. I'd have holes spread out deeper, shallower and each side at the same depth of the spot you have been getting them at. Go with a buddy and have them start on a spot opposite of you. If your shallow then have them start deep, if your west of the hot spot your buddy starts east. Basically your trying to pattern the fish. Another option is to try another bait. If minnows are the ticket then switch to waxies after the bite turns off.

Use a flash lure like a spoon to jig, then have a smaller presentation with on a bobber.. flash brings them in then they often bite on the smaller waxie presentation...

Also, lots of holes. They move in circles so they'll leave a spot and move over, just move around to follow them.
