Salt shield

I'm new to this sport and I just bought a sled with a cover and a two place trailer without the salt shield. Will the cover protect the sled or do I need to install the salt shield? It is a good cover that ties around the skis. I've trailered my ATV without a cover for years and the salt has really taken it's toll on it so I don't want to make the same mistake with my sled. On the other hand the way the weather looks my new sled may never leave my garage!

The covers that go down around the skis do help some, but enough sloppy days without a salt shield will take its toll over time. Even a shield wont stop it all, I just sold my salt shield after buying an enclosure for mine. Now I wish I hadn't waited so long to buy the cover for the trailer.

a salt shield is a must at the minimum. try pulling without when its messy out and you have a real mess. mad flaps on the truck helps too
