humminbird 798 question

Hello all. I have a question for the humminbird 798 owners. After doing a search I see others have done what I am attempting. I bought an ice ducer for my 798ci to use on the ice. Everything powers up nice but it flashes a "ducer not connected " message. I've checked and rechecked and I KNOW it's connected. Do I need to change something in the settings or what?

Under the sonar tab there is a transducer select option, however it doesn't sound like that is the issue? I think the unit does't give an error as long as it sees any working transducer. Are you plugging the ducer into the head unit, or are you using the cable organizer mount? The mount can be problematic on those 700 series. Try plugging the transducer directly into the unit without the mount and see if it can work. You should be able to test the transducer on just about any Hbird if you have continued problems to further isolate the issue.

kritzy,

Which Iceducer did you buy? Mine is a XI 9 20, I know they make a XI 9 19 but I am unsure if that one works with a 798.

Seems to me, my 798 worked no matter what my transducer setting was set at in the menu but you should adjust it accordingly.

You could have possibly gotten a bad one from the factory also. Give them a call, you should have your problem fixed in no time.

Mike
