Hello Everyone,

Quick question. First, I should start off saying I am a novice snowmobiler. I have put on about 150 miles tops on my 2001 Polaris Indy Classic I bought a few years ago. I bought it to use as a winter fishing boat.

Anyway, I have an ice fishing weekend planned this Thursday-Saturday night on a small 200 acre lake my parents live on. My question is can I use my snowmobile on the ice to transport my portable ice house from spot to spot without doing damage to my sled? (Assuming there is at least 5-6 inches of ice) It would sure beat pulling the house and it would probably only take 3-5 minutes of riding at a time. But ultimately I won't do it if I am going to cause any damage to the sled. Thought I might get some good insight on this forum. I guessing the answer is don't do it but I hate pulling the house smile Thank you for your help!

Are you considering damage that might occur due to lack of snow, or damage caused by pulling the weight? The weight should not be an issue if you have sufficient snow to lubricate the slides. I'd personally avoid pulling anything for more than a few hundred yards without snow and if you dont have studs you'll have a tough time anyway.
