carlcmc
is it acceptable to use a larger float if you offset it by using more weight so the fist doesn't have to pull as hard to pull it under?
CrappieJohn
Carl....This will work to a point. There are several variables you will have to consider though. If you are fishing for smaller fish...crappies and panfish, you have to be aware of the fact that these fish can become very "weight conscious". If you are weighing up pretty heavy and fishing crappies, you might be keeping yourself out of a good bite if the fish are hitting up. They will hit and continue to rise slightly, feel that weight and will drop it immediately.Larger fish such as northerns and even walleyes are far less susceptable to that extra weight, but walleyes, too, many get shy with too much weight. You did not indicate if this system was to be used with live bait or artificials. I think that the extra weight will be less an issue if using live bait, regardless of what the species fished. ------------------Plastics...making better fishermen without bait! Good Fishing Guys!
