Got out on early ice on friday. Caught 5 bass while panfishing. two were in the 12-14 range and i didnt get pics. The other 3 measured 16, 17, 19.5 heres some pics. It was amazing. the were hitting a tiny tungsten panfish jig tipped with one maggot. they were biting lighter than the bluegills. very fun using my thorne bros power noodle with 3 pound fluorocarbon line.

All 5 bass were released after the quick picks. The one in the hole made it down safely as well. I put him head first but the [PoorWordUsage] turned around so i snapped the pic and righted him and he went right down.

Thanks carmike. I wish I could say i was even targeting them but i wasn't. It's simply amazing how small the lure is compared to what we use in the summer. and the bites were so light. I wouldn't have even felt them if it werent for how sensitive the power noodle tip is. I have heard that minnows and tip ups can produce bass at times in the winter. Good luck when you do get out.

Thanks Mww. I'm unable to get out because I tore a calf muscle a few weeks ago...so by the time I get out, I imagine the early ice bite will be over. Hopefully late ice they'll pick up again.

And isn't it funny...10'' power worms will get them in the summer, or a 3/4 ounce spinnerbait, and they'll thump it, but now it's a tiny jig that they'll barely touch.

Good luck out there, and catch one for me! smile
