bunk bed height

Can anyone tell me the exact height your top bunk bed is from the ceiling of your house. I am putting a dinnette under one of my bunks and want a nuf room so you don't feel like you are going to hit your head when you get up from the table and also so you don't feel like your sleeping in a coffin. I was wondering if 20" of space is too small.

It would depend on the inside height. My inside height is 6'10"(82")- bottom bunks are 15" high off the floor with 6 inch mattresses. Top bunk supports are 52 inches off the floor - with a 3 inch bunks and 4 inch mattresses leaving 23 inches to the top. There is plenty of room for sleeping - just don't sit up quick. Both my top bunks fold up when not in use. BTW my rear bunks are 48 inch lower x 92"(converts to table) - 40x92" inch upper. My side bunks are 24 inches wide.(Lower is 76" long - upper is 81" long)
