wheel house

We need advice, Just bought our first wheel house and we would like advice on running battery and generator. Looking to take a trip for a few days. Should we get an on board charger? And does it take long for the generator to re-charge the charger? Any advice would be great.

Thank you

Personally, I'm not a fan of generators, but I know where you're coming from. Dead batteries are a drag.

If you already have a battery charger the easist thing to do would be to use that. Couple hours and a dead deep cycle will be charged up again. An onboard wouldn't hurt but at 1 or 1.5 amps it could take quite a while to charge it up.

I don't know the set up you have. In my house I have 2 deep cycles. I have LED lights, car stereo, an inverter, and an LED TV/DVD player. One battery powers the inverter/tv set up and the other battery powers everything else. The battery powering the tv will last for aboot 4 movies. The other battery lasts all weekend and then some. Knowing this, if you and your lady are only out for the weekend you may not even need to lug the generator with.

what kind of heater are you using? I have a forced air unit with a blower that runs off the battery. Honda 1000eu gen. and a normal battery charger is what I use with a single deep cycle. I have never run the battery dead to see how long it will power the furnace. Pretty sure it would not last for a whole weekend. Enjoy your wheelhouse!
