New FL 12

Hey guys looking at a new FL 12. What is the difference btwn the one with the 8 12 and 20 degree angle cone and does it do any thing different and is it needed?

The different cone angles will help with different depths. The Vex HSOforum has all the info you need. Before you buy, I'd read everything you can on their site. I'm getting an FL-20 this year after reading all I could. The one thing about the 12 that turns me off is it doesn't have a bottom lock or zoom feature. The 18 doesn't have a flat screen, which I want. The 20 lets you get down to 300' when going after lakers in the Apostle Islands.

Get the Tri-Beam ducer, you'll use it...eventually anyways.

the different cone angles will help in some situations. If fishing a sharp drop off with a wide cone angle will leave you with a lot of dead zone. Narrow cone angles will help when fishing in weeds, and as stated sharp drops.. Wide will help you in shallow water situations.

Vex sells a tri-beam too, but I did not have good luck with it. I fish 10 feet or less quite a bit and the traditional transducer works better for me. I went with the 12 degree cone. The cone angle really depends on how deep you plan on fishing most of the time.

My fishing is never over 30' and alot is more shallow. So would the regular transducer be the best bet?
