Looking for some good books on Trapping

Recommended Posts

I'm looking for a couple good books on trapping and how to go about doing sets. I am mainly after coyote and fox as there is an abundance of them in my hunting areas. I'd love to call them and hunt for them but due to the close proximity of houses it isn't an option. So if any of you guys that trap know of some good books I'd be interested. Thanks!

If you're looking for a good book or DVD get one from Mark June. I've been to a couple of his seminars and he's a very good teacher and predator trapper. I think he also has a web site that you can find his products.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the info! If you know anyone around the Forest Lake area that traps I have a couple spots that would produce. I have some superfat coons, multiple yotes and some grey fox around that I'd like to do away with. That is part of the reason I'm looking into trapping. Might be a fun way to get my son going a little more on the outdoors and a way for him to make a little money for himself and of course I'd get the oppurtunity to learn how to, skin, stretch and dry the hides which could be alot of fun. I know there is alot of work and some cost involved but the cleaning and drying to me is more fun then work. Just had a yote run across the driveway on my way in a couple minutes ago and had a yote and a pair of grey fox on camera for the past couple days.

Tunrevir,

You out of the city far enough to try calling them in?

Let me know if you are and maybe I could make a swing over there during the next full moon.

My son Mitch and I both took the trapper Ed course a couple years ago together and we learned a lot and had a ball. Just like Christmas everytime you head out to check the traps. The skinning is pretty easy and I could show you how to do it but I don't bother fleshing them or putting them up as it's just as easy to just bring them in.

Give me a shout if your interested.

Greyfox, I am far enough out of the city that you could call and shoot. One property for sure and you probably could at my house as well if your interested let me know. 1 parcel is woods surrounded by picked corn fields and we see the coyotes run through in the mornings and evenings but tough to get a shot with the bow. The other parcel is behind my house with houses nearby but you can still shoot if you know the lay of the land. Give me a holler on pm and I can get you directions, ect.
