LOW travel?

My buddy said it can be very difficult to travel on LOW if you get off the beaten path(aka plowed roads). What does he mean by this? I want to do a self guided trip up there and am planning on bring snow mobiles. Is there any reason that I would not be able to travel easily with a snow mobile up there at the begining of january?

Kyle: You will be fine with sleds off road. In fact as the ice permits there will be a sled trail from Pine Island all the way to the NW angle, about 43 miles. This will occurr a little later in the year once the ice is safe. I think your buddy is referring to vehicle off road. With a lot of snow and wind even a 4 wheel drive vehicle isn't going to punch through some of the drifting, but a sled, you should not have any problems and free to move around. Good luck, and have a great trip.

Sleds should be good (maybe a bit rough), but you should be fine.

I recommend going down into the LOW forum, they will give you plenty of advice on that trip. Its a big lake and needs to be taken seriously, be sure you use the buddy system and have someone who will be sure you get in in the evening.
