Locating crappies on a new lake?

how should i go about locating crappies on a new lake? like should i look for drop-offs reefs weeds ect. also i havent fished on most of metro lakes so any specific spots on lakes would help (ie on white bear try the bay with the public dock) thanks a lot!!!

Get a good map of the lake you want to fish, or ask at the local bait shop. The craps will be pretty close to the water they intend to spawn in now so weed edges, breaklines, rocky outcroppings, etc. will be likely targets. Again, though, it is hard to justify not getting a good map.
