What if you bolted threaded PVC caps to your skis? Then you could screw a PVC male threaded section into that and make the legs whatever length you wanted. You should still be able to take it apart if you need to. You could probably make a square "Cage" to fit into the legs to bridge between the skis. I've seen this on the other forum but I am unable to post it here because of the iceleaders forum rules. I don't want to get booted off of these forums.

I used to fish on a bucket in -20F before I got my flip-over shelter. Just had to make sure the wind is at your back. One thing about having a sled/shelter is that you have alot of stuff to lug around. And the longer you ice fish it seems like the more stuff you accumulate. I like being inside my hut though. I can see my line better and being out of the wind keeps my line from icing up.
