HB798 si for ice

Is anyone using their HB798 for the ice season? I am looking to do a conversion with mine but the HB HSOforum does not show an ice-ducer for the 798. Just wondering if the one compatible for the 788 (XI 9 20) will also work with the 798?

Also, anyone that might have it set up for ice, have you compared it in flasher mode to the HB ice models? I am hoping it will be an improvement over my old Vex FL8 along with the bonus of gps and maps.

Yes, that ducer will work.

I do have a ice setup for my 798, bought a power cord, mounting bracket and that very same ice ducer you mentioned above and it works pretty good, I hardly use the flasher mode, mostly just the regular graph. If your fishing next to a flasher it takes a little tweaking to get the interference out of the system but it can be done.

I only use mine in the permanent fish house, I won't subject it to the extreme cold, most of these ' summer time ' units have a operating temp of 5 above or better. I put about $130 into my ice kit for the 798.

Thanks Mike, that is the information I was looking for. I can get the soft side portable conversion and the ducer for $129.10 on Amazon. Will just need to get a higher amp battery to go with it. Thought about building my own case but for that price I don't think I could do it as nicely along with the soft side case.
