giant pike jigs

Recommended Posts

I want to try and make some lures. Its very simple, I am going to buy some spearing decoys, and attach a few hooks. So, how do I do it? Where can I get those loops that are used on almost all lures, or can I make them? Do I just hit them in; use glue? I know almost nothing a out lure making.

By "those loops", I'm assuming you mean the eyelets. Most good lures have a wire running through the body of the lure. Those loops are part of that wire bent so it sticks out of the body to attach split rings and hooks to. Glueing them in will never hold a good pike. Check out makealure .com.

This is exactly what I was looking for. Should I get the 3/4" threads or 1 1/4" threads for more than 3x the price. From what I could find on the internet, these hold up really well.

You just won the internets this evening with that post.

*hats off*

P.S. when you're spearfishing, roughly how many of the pike you see could you actually tempt to hit your decoy, if you actually tried to trigger them rather than spear/watch as they leave?
