minolta lens

my wife has a old minolta camera with a nice telephoto lens. my question is would that lens work on a new camera today? would it have to be a minolta? thanks

They would go on the sony alpha series cameras. We have one and have had great luck with it. I have a minolta 70-210 lense on it and it works great. My advice would be to take it to the store and ask if you can try it out on the display model.

minolta maxxum and konica minolta af lenses will work on sony alpha cameras. me and my wife are sony shooters and we have a couple minolta lenses, one of them is from the 80s and it still works great. if its a maxxum or KM lens there is no reason it shouldn't work with any sony alpha body.

Another option is an adaptor. 4 3rds cameras by Panasonic and Olympus have them and maybe others as well. Unfortunately auto focus won't work at all.

Sony would be your best bet for full functionality.
