Northland Tungsten....Not Impressed

A few days back I picked up a few (12) of the new Tungsten jigs from northland. Got home took them out of the package, and in my normal routine started making sure the eyes were clean before I put them in the jig box's. Ended up having three break the eyes off with little to no pressure. I would think for the price this shouldnt happen.......Not happy!

Any one else have this issue?

When you say the eyes broke off, you just don't means the paint spit, rather the entire eye broke making it not usable at all ? What exactly were you doing to "clean" them? That would be a bummer, was really looking forward to having a more accessible tungsten option. Thanks for the heads up, did you contact Northland yet? Curious to hear their response!

Not sure why cause I'm not a chemist or anything, but because of the temp you need to get the tungsten it seems it always weaken hook/eyes of the jigs. I do the same for every jig I get. Clear the eyes then bend out and sharpen the hooks. Always seems I lose about 3 out of 10 tungsten jigs I get by them breaking. No matter what company they come from.

Push- I was using a needle, just like I always do. And yes the whole eye snapped off

Jones- Ive never had a problem with the eyes coming off the jig on tungsten, Heck I just ordered about 100 bucks worth from the two bigger companies and not an issue. I believe your right that they got the hooks to hot in the manufacturing process, Ive had this happen when molding my own jigs on cheap hooks.

I was on another forum and came across a thread with about 15 guys that have had this happen with the Northland jigs. so Im not the only one.

hmm, not good. I'll wait on buying any of those until they get it worked out. I'm sure if you email them or call, they would gladly send you replacements.

you are correct, I usually have the hook break right at the bottom of the tungsten. You got to take the good with the bad and just buy more jigs.
