Fish house/trailer license question?

Finlander

Recommended Posts

Almost done working on my RV trailer converting it into an ice fishing house. I thought you only had have a valid fish house/shelter license only rather than put a permanent trailer license on it if was capable of hauling like atv, sleds, etc. This house has a regular side door.

Someone told that law changed to all trailerable fish houses has to have a trailer license.

Whats correct?

I was told by the DMV that if I just wanted to use my Yetti in the winter I could get a lifetime license, and if I wanted to use it year round as a camper/fish hose I need the license plate. I don't recall what the plate cost me, I think it was under $50 for it and registration.

I bought a 14-foot camper my buddy and I converted to an ice house. We wanted to be able to buy the lifetime tabs - which run about $60. But part of that is based on weight, and ours weighs too much. So each year we need to buy new tabs, which run $12 or $14.

I can't recall what the cut-off is for weight. I wanted to say it has to be under 3000 Lbs to get the lifetime license.

I wish I could get the lifetime registration. It's not the $12 or so, it's dealing with the DMV each one extra time each year.
