Flasher carrier/ box

I know lots of you have carriers for your flashers, and I am wondering what you like or dislike about them? What would you change? Do you have a float for the transducer, or is it suspended on the cable from an arm? Does anyone use the small tackle box holder feature? Rod holders? Can holders? grin

I have a 788ci and I'm going to be making an ice carrier for it this fall, so I'm just wondering what features to include in/ exclude from it.

Thanks.

I have a vexilar propack 2. Love the 2 rod holders, wish others had that option, or some of the other optional features that this system has avaialable. The tackle box that comes with it is handy.

Another vote for the propack. I only have one rod holder on it and it has come in handy. Making it small enough to fit in a 5 gallon bucket is also a necessity. The bucket really helps protect everything in transport. I typically put extra gloves/hats for the kiddos on top of my flasher before loading other misc things. The tacklebox is nice, but I tend to just take it out and use it as an additional box. With the soft cover on it as well it kinda makes accessing the tacklebox a little more work. Good Luck!

Have just a soft sided blue bag for the Vexilar FL-8 and is not the best set-up. Have to open zippers constantly to mess with the float or if I want to use the arm, have to plug the battery in, make adjustments, etc. I usually just take it out of the bag when fishing.

Looks nice when it is in the bag though.... wink

I love the blue box from Vexilar. My old one was set up nice. I had two pvc tube rod holders on the sides of it as well as a mini ram mount for my H2O gps. I called it the blue box hot rod. Now I am running a FL-22 on a new style blue box and will be adding rod holders and a tackle box storage to it. I like to run and gun, and the way I set it up I can drill my holes, grab the vex and go. Two rods in holders, one in hand, plus plastics and extra jigs. Everything I need.

This is the old one. Before I put the GPS mount on it.

And in use... This one has the GPS mount, but it is difficult to see.

Thanks for the replies, everyone. I think I'm going to skip the bag to zip everything up in, and just make it sized to fit in a five-gallon pail for travel. Definitely rod holders. I'm also thinking an arm for the transducer so I can skip the float and keep some clutter out of the hole.

Anything else?
