Work through a resort like Appledoorns or a guide service, quite honestly ML can be a tough one to learn as there are so many places that are similar but don't hold the same fish. The locals tend to stay up on current conditions and reports. Be prepared to cover water and punch holes. Good luck, it can be an awesome lake.

Last feb my girlfriend took me out to Appledoorns for my b-day.. highly recommended. They put us on perch despite a very tough bite, and even put us on walleye during a 10-minute window bite (literally said "show up at ice house X at 7 AM, they should show themselves sometime before 8"). We fished 7-9 as we were leaving that morning, and from something like 7:30-7:40 we landed a few fish.

Last year was my 4th year ice fishing ML. I am finally figuring it out after all that time. I don;t catch keepers everyday. But at least I'm not getting skunked as much. Like the others said, go through a guide or a resort. They'll give you tips and teach you techniques. I went with Tony Roaches guide service a few years ago and learnt alot. The trip showed me the potential of the lake when you get on them.
