Maplewood State Park Fall Color Report

Anybody know how the fall leaves are coming along in the park?

The DNR has a nice map on their HSOforum showing fall color status. It also includes reports from all the state parks.

I was in the area, but not specifically in Maplewood today. It looks like it's less than 25% turned. At that, there will be lots of little splashes of color throughout the park. I will be in the park tommorrow for Maplewood Days sponsored by Friends for Maplewood State Park. I will be volunteering next weekend, as it's a two weekend event.

Drove by on Wednesday (9/21)& there wasn't alot of color yet.

According to the news reports last week, tree leaves are the only thing producing color in Maplewood state park area.

I hope with the hard freezes we had that the leaves don't go from green to dead brown. I was in Maplewood last weekend and it looked like they are about 25% turned. The sumac was on fire, but other than that just isolated bits of color. Lot of green yet. Looking forward to being out there again this next weekend taking a few pics and maybe harrassing a muskie or six.

I was out around Comorant Lake and Pelican Lakes area today and there is a lot of brown, not much for vibrant colors, but I wouldnt take to much stock on that area providing good color, not quite far enought north and east.
