ARTIC ARMOUR CAMO

Recommended Posts

I CAN T SEEM TO FIND A RETAILER IN THE AREA , HOW WARM IS THIS STUFF WOULD I BE WARM SITTING IN A BOAT IN MID TO LATE NOVEMBER WITH A 15 MPH WIND.

im considering buying some but if its not well suited for those type of conditions I rather not. I have never seen it and wonder if i am not better buying a non camo color for ice fishing and a cold weather waterfowl set up

ice fishing is a little differant deal your usually pretty mobile and generate heat

I have the red suit and my bro has the camo suit. Only difference is the camo is soft finish. It will keep you warm, but you will need a fleece or something under it when it is cold and you are not moving.

The best thing is that it is actually quite thin suit, so not bulky at all. I have worn my Drake 1/4 zip under mine, with only a base silk under that, and that is about good for minus 15, seriously. The jacket, with a fleece under it, and a silk weight base shirt under that should cover anything, unless a person is truly cold all the time. Then maybe a thicker vest might work, but I have never needed it with my red suit.

Good luck with whatever you get.

BTW - I did jump in the lake this summer with mine to test it. It does float, but it doesn't pop you up like a cork. The pockets fill with water, and I thought I would come up "quicker". Still came up no prob, but it really opened my eyes at how quick I would come up withOUT a floating suit... You would NOT come up with shells in pockets, etc.

I will always have a floater, or a PFD on while in duck boat of any sort, unless sitting on shore.

It is definately worth getting the camo suit in my opinion. If youre goona spend that much on a coat and bibs you might as well be able to use them for hunting too. Box is correct that the fabric on the camo suit is more of a softer finish than the red or green suit, but it actually works quite nice for hunting because it feels very lightweight. I am able to shoot my bow quite compfortably with it on. As far as warmth goes, Box is very accurate. If I'm weraing the coat by itself, I need a mid layer if its going to be real cold. However, if I wear the coat and the bibs, I dont need a mid layer even in real cold temps. One thing i was worried about was how waterproof it really would be, but i tested it out this spring and was pretty impressed. Up on Rainy lake I took a chance and left my pvc rain gear behind and just went with the Arctic Amror and it was totally fine, it didnt soak through at all and that was in a complete downpour.

Just my two cents, but the AA Camo suit is totally worth the money, I'm very happy with mine.

I wear mine from mid Oct - March. I use it for duck hunting until i get frozen out of the lakes and sloughs, then I throw a blaze cover on and use it for deer hunting, then on to ice fishing. Late November with a 15 MPH wind...No Problem.

I have the suit and it definately is warm. I bought it a few years back and in the past years have only warn it while late season duck hunting or in the deer stand. With the soft fabric comes its pros and cons. One thing I didn't care for was while ice fishing, kneeling down in the wet ice/snow, my knees always had a ball of snow/ice stuck to it. The fabric works like velcro when it comes to that. Also, while snowmobiling, the back of my jacket was always covered with snow dust. It is a great product tho however.

Since purchasing it, I have yet to be cold in the deerstand. Just make sure you don't walk to far or too fast to your stand wearing it, cause you will be steaming up in no time.
