RangerJack
I've seen three batches of chicks in the last couple weeks. All three were in different locations. All the chicks are probably in the 1-1.5 month range. I think the wet spring killed off or put nesting to a hault, and some hens were able to nest later on this summer. Maybe there is some hope for central Minnesota after all. As long as these smaller chicks are able to survive the cold weather that awaits. Hopefully the whole region had a late hatch too! muc33
Pheasant hens are very very persistent, they will build and rebuild until they get a nest to hatch, their brood may be smaller each time, but they keep at it!
Farley
i saw some about 2 weeks ago crossing the road that were so tiny they looked as though they just hatched that day.
brittman
Mid August dried out ... there were hens on nests when the brood counts were being run and that is why as many hens were not being seen.
muc33
I agree brittman. This though will also result in smaller broods and then a smaller crop of chicks. Hence some coralation in the lower forecast. All relative though. Specific area's can be much better if not even average or above. The overall truth crew.... If you don't go out and hunt, you will never know! After all it's called hunting not killing! You must be vewy vewy qwiet!!!
