Remove lower unit on yamaha F150

Need to remove lower unit on a yamaha F150 to grease shaft that squeals in the bushing just below the powerhead, its starting to drive me crazy!! anyone have any helpfull info on what to watch out for or sugestions on how to make the job less painfull? i have tried silicone spray and it only last a short time and the squeal returns, thanks for any help!

weld, I've got the same thing. It's extremely annoying, and the silicon doesn't seem to be doing the trick very long for me either. I'm going to look into having my dealer take care of it.

Well pulled the lower unit and greased the shaft, will test it out this weekend but I'm sure it will stop the noise/squealing!! Really wasn't bad to do but make sure you have a helper, what motor do you have? If you need more info let me know.

Look forward to hear if your fix does the trick. I've got something lined up with the dealer I bought mine from. I've got another "upgrade" I've been wanting to do as well, so I'm gonna get them both done at same time. Thanks for the offer to help.

goose....the lube on the shaft works good!! bearing/bushing journals were very dry, i think my transducer is spraying water up just right to hit the very small open area of shaft and running down and washing lube off, not time to do some adjustments so it dont happen again.
